Q&A with Dr. Katherine Hough

How did you get into pediatrics?
After college, I worked as a healthcare analyst in finance. It was a great experience, but not my passion. Next, I taught high school biology in The Bronx. While I was teaching, I realized that a career in medicine, namely pediatrics, would pull together everything I loved. I applied to medical school, and here I am! I love being a pediatrician.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small town in rural North Carolina.

Where do you live?
I live in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

What do you enjoy most about working in your neighborhood office?
It’s a bonus to live and work in the same community. I love seeing my patients in town, at the ball field, or in the grocery store. And I love being able to walk to work on the aqueduct!

What keeps you motivated?
A love of learning.

What do you do for fun?
I love to play tennis, ski, walk my (three!) dogs and travel.
