THE FIFTEEN MONTH VISIT

The Fifteen Month Visit

At this visit we will:

  • Take your child’s height, weight, and head circumference
  • Administer the Pneumococcal, DtaP, and Hib vaccines. Read about benefits and potential side effects of these vaccines.

GUIDANCE

Development: Your baby will be able to stand alone, take a few steps, and maybe even wave bye-bye. They will also say a few words, including “dada” and “mama” and will begin to indicate their wants by pointing.

Eating: Hopefully by now, your child has abandoned the habit of throwing food on the floor or mushing it on the table. As a matter of fact, if you have followed our advice, they are very careful not to waste food, since they know the consequences. If you have not handled your baby’s mini-rebellions against your culinary skills, you’re in for some trouble, because now they know something better will come if the unwanted veggies are spit out. If this sounds like your situation, we will insist on our picky-eater management strategy before it’s too late. Read on….

Boundary settings: Eating may not be the only time when your little one acts out. They have started some bad behaviors, like banging on computers, climbing on tables, or even worse, hitting you or other caretakers. This isn’t because your child is mean or has bad intentions, they just want to explore where the limits are and see what reactions their actions produce. This is a prime time to deal with boundary setting, and we will guide you on how to make sure you’re on the right path. Read on…
